Deploy Buildroot Image to SD-card

One the buildroot image has been build, you can deploy it to SD-card with the following commands:

Finding out the name of the SD card

Attach the SD card reader and insert the card into the slot. Then enumerate all disk devices by using fdisk.

# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sdb: 7.5 GiB, 8026849280 bytes, 15677440 sectors

Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: dos
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
/dev/sdb1 * 1 32768 32768 16M c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/sdb2 32769 1081344 1048576 512M 83 Linux

On my system the device name of the sdcard turned out to be /dev/sdb .

Writing image to the card

# dd if=output/images/sdcard.img of=/dev/sdb bs=1M
76+1 records in
76+1 records out
79692288 bytes (80 MB, 76 MiB) copied, 19.1799 s, 4.2 MB/s
